Thimblefen Press is a small, independent house. We were founded in 2026 to publish fiction — only fiction — and to publish it a little, and slowly.
Our name comes from our mark: a thimble set upright in a fen, sprouting cattails. A thimble is a small household thing, an object made for careful, close work. A fen is low wet ground where the weather sits. Leave the one out in the other long enough and something grows. That is more or less our idea of a book — a modest object that turns out to have weather inside it.
The books we publish tend to be provocative, and we would rather the provocation live on the page than in the way we talk about it. We trust our readers to walk into strange weather without an umbrella handed to them at the door.
Small books with strange weather. That is the whole programme.
